This is a Royal Albert Old country roses ornamental Teapot “Moving Day”, this particular one is numbered 2 of 98. Yet as is often the case with many pieces from this range there is evidence of crazing to the glaze finish. Inspecting the pot and lid reveals that the crazing appears to be confined to the lid, i noticed that the crazing continues to the underside of the lid as well as to the top, and in addition the decorative details are similarly afflicted by this unwelcome issue. Yet as mentioned, sadly this appears to be the norm with this particular series. Close inspection of the pot itself cause no similar concerns as those seen on the lid. I did however notice some inconsistency to the “feel” of the glaze when rubbed lightly, this was noted to the handle (top) and the spout (top). The guilding in one or two areas shows the usual fading, which again is nothing out of the ordinary with this series. These observations are worth contemplating and will be the deciding factor as to whether you feel that ou would like to include this piece in your collection. The original box is present, but shows some storage wear. This pot is intended to be used for decorative purposes and is not a useable teapot, there is information on the underside that explains this.
