Royal Albert Old Country Roses. 21 piece afternoon tea set. This is lovely set is from the. Earlier period of English manufacture. With the majority of the pieces having. The backstamp used between. Three items have the next. Back stamp used from. The teapot and two cups. The pieces with the first backstamp. Are all 2nd quality as is the teapot. But the two later teacups are. All pieces are in excellent condition. You tell a 2nd by a small spot on. The backstamp being ground down. To reveal the porcelain below. A 2nd means there is some small. A bit of gilding missing. Or the pattern doesn’t line up quite. As well as it should on the item. Or some kiln grit somewhere or. Something along those lines. The only thing I can see on any. Of the pieces is a very small grey. Patch in the gilded rim of one cup. That may be kiln grit but not that. Otherwise I have inspected each. Piece fairly thoroughly and other than. Than one side plate having a light. Stroke of beige colour underneath. That shouldn’t be there I can’t see. Anything wrong with them. I have my suspicions their quality. Control in this earlier period was. Much stricter than perhaps a bit. Later on in the century. In my opinion this still makes. This set far better than any modern. In South East Asia. There’s a lovely website called. Antiques and Tea Cups that. Has a history and photos of. All things Old Country Roses. Including an explanation of. All the backstamps that made. This listing a lot easier for me. Well worth a look. No chips, cracks or crazing. All pieces’ping’ well when tapped. No obvious signs of use with. Little or no wear to the gold. Gilding and few if any utensil. Marks on the side plates. As stated earlier except for one. Very small grey patch on a cup. Rim there are no other obvious. Anomalies that I found to justify.
