Here we have a set from a collection made 40 years ago, all FIRST quality and NEVER used. In fact they have been cared for and were clean when I acquired them, as the previous owner had looked after them over the years. (More from this set are listed – dinner plates, fruit bowls and serving dishes). From Royal Albert a Set of 6 Soup Coupes and platters in the Old Country Roses Pattern. Soup Coupe Diameter 12cm. NO signs of use, no scratches cracks chips crazing and the all important gilding has bright lustre and is perfect throughout. Original backstamp on all pieces in the set indicating an age of 40+ years. Made in sunny England, all Factory First Quality. SIX ROYAL ALBERT VINTAGE OLD COUNTRY ROSES. SOUP COUPES & SAUCERS. (All made in England, 1962-93 backstamps). 3 saucers have 1st quality 1962-73 backstamps, all other pieces have 2nd quality, 1973-93. Height to handle tops is approximately 6cm (2.5). Diameter to edges of handles is approximately 15.5cm (6.25). Is approximately 11.5cm (4.5). Diameter of saucers is approximately 16cm (6.25). In generally good condition, with no chips, cracks, crazing or restoration. Gilt in good condition with light usage rubbing to a few pieces. Most marked as factory seconds possibly due to small faults to 2 coupe patterns. White specks to a saucer pattern & a few other tiny specks / marks. All prices in GBP (British pounds). 6 x Beautiful Bone China Soup Coupes & Saucers from Royal Albert’s renowned. Collection – original backstamp. Soup Coupes & Saucers are 1st Quality and in very good condition, with no chips, cracks or crazing and produce that wonderfully satisfying Ping. The gilding to the gently scalloped soup coupe and saucer rims is bright and intact. Royal Albert is the world’s most popular bone china, loved for its inherent beauty and unique designs. The success of Royal Albert’s royal association dates back to the late 1800s. In 1896, Thomas Wild took over the Albert Works near Stoke-on-Trent – the factory named the year before to commemorate the birth of Prince Albert. In 1897, Thomas Wild & Co produced a range of commemorative wares to celebrate Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee: an association with royalty that continues to this day and which led to the name of Royal Albert. Dinnerware pattern was designed by Harold Holdcroft and launched in 1962.
